"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The School of Administrative Studies at the Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies, York University, presently constitutes the third largest undergraduate business program in Canada with student enrollment of 3,600. The Atkinson Faculty is a university in miniature, serving over 5,000 full-time and 5,000 part-time students from 30 countries (international enrollments have increased 446% over the last few years) and over half of our students come directly from high school and/or college.
At York University, both students and faculty are encouraged to push the frontiers of change. Atkinson emphasizes applying theory to real-world situations by using practical and hands-on approaches to a business education. Presentations, seminars, use of case studies and lectures by guest speakers are common methods of classroom teaching. Atkinson's program encourages sharpening of critical thinking, analytical, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, all of which are vital for success in the business realm.
Atkinson alumni have distinguished themselves in all areas of business. In Canada's top ten accounting firms, our graduates are well represented at every level. From Director and Vice President, to Manager and Partner, Atkinson alumni play a large role in today's business community.
