How do I join?
Register online at http://register.yuapaa.com. The on-screen instructions will assist you in completing the application form.
Please submit your membership fee (described below) along with your verification code, in a sealed and addressed envelope, to:

Alternatively, you may visit us at 253 Atkinson Building during office hours to submit your payment in person. Office hours are listed on our homepage, in the right-hand sidebar.
If you experience any difficulities while completing the online application, please submit a hard copy form.
If you were a member during the 2008 - 2009 academic year, please do not resubmit an application. You may simply submit your verification code (or student number) along with your payment to renew to your membership.
How much does it cost?
The membership fee is only $15 per academic year.
Prospective members may only pay in cash. We do not accept certified cheques or otherwise.
The membership fee helps us provide quality services and events to students.
Why should I become a member?
Members receive full access to constantly updated content on the all-new APAA website. Areas of the website such as News & Events, Recruitment, Academic, and Speakers’ Spot are restricted to members only. Registered members receive a username and password to login to the site. Once logged in you are able to watch video interviews of professors, accountants, and other professionals talk about a range of interesting and engaging subjects! Read articles written by your colleagues and even write your own and submit it to us. It may appear on our website! Have access to our Calendar which displays all of the great events we have planned for the year. In addition, members receive copies of our bi-annual newsletter, the Ledger.

Members receive first notification and access to APAA events, such as the CA Networking Lunch, which has replaced our Annual Accounting Dinner. Be the first to know about upcoming employer information sessions and job postings with our connection with torontojobs.ca. Popular employer information sessions include those with leading accounting firms such as KPMG, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte & Touche, Soberman, and Grant Thornton.
Members also have the opportunity to appear in our newest initiative, FaceValueBook, which is a great way for recruiters to match students’ profiles with their résumé.
What events and services has the APAA provided in the past?
- Information sessions
- CA Networking Lunch. An opportunity for students to meet and network with head recruiters during fall recruitment season.
- Organization of Atkinson involvement in annual competitions. Past competitions include ICAO CA$H, CMA, University of Ottawa Case.
- Spring Networking Night. A social networking night held annually at Dave & Buster’s.
- Involvement in Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax clinics. Atkinson has continually been at the top of the list in terms of student volunteering at tax clinics.
- Newsletters with current accounting news affecting our students.
- Online student discussion forum
- “Response in 24 hours” email inquiry system
- Tutor and Student matching service
- Keeping students updated on events occurring on campus via email.
- Assistance in arrangement of study groups
How is the APAA improving?
Some of the services the APAA has planned for this upcoming year include:
- Personal in-office appointments with students. Availability of student ambassadors from various professional designations including CA, CMA, and CGA.
- More information sessions! Including more sessions addressing a broader scope of career options with CIA, CISA, ISACA, CRA.
- Recruiting events with Protiviti, CRA, and the Office of the Auditor General.
- Workshops with KPMG, PwC, E&Y, Deloitte, and Grant Thornton.
- Giving students the ability to contribute articles to the APAA website section made especially for members. Work to encourage and cultivate a stronger student voice.
- Launch of an online video program which will include video interviews with professors, accomplished students, industry professionals, Atkinson CA, CMA, and CGA students, Atkinson and York alumni, and more. The initiative will not only include informative videos but will also feature motivational stories, to get students motivated to reach the top!
- Development of a more visually appealing and user-friendly website.
- Awarding of APAA Achievement Awards to recognize top students in accounting courses and outstanding council members.
- Maintaining relationships with externals that hire (through torontojobs.ca) and extending this information to you hot off the press!
